Millmount, Drogheda, Co.Louth
Home alley of handball legend Joey Maher, winner of the World Championships and Irish Championships. He is among those in the newspaper photography from 1961, as is another renowned player Fintan Confrey

E. Timoney visited this alley in Nov 2018, taking additional photographs (all except for the top photo, which is from National Inventory of Architectural Heritage http://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=images&county=LH&regno=13622076 ), including one of the statue of Joey Maher, who passed away in 2016.  The statue is outside Scotch Hall shopping centre in Drogheda over looking the Boyne river.

This was the home alley for the great Joe Maher. In 1967, Joe won the world championship playing for Canada. Playing for Ireland in 1970, Joe was beaten by Pat Kirby in the world singles final in Croke Park. Pat was formerly from Clare.
